Pat Crusenberry and her 3 current dog companions
Tycho, 15˝, mixed breed, was adopted from an internet ad at age 13. Pippin, 12, a miniature schnauzer, was adopted from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria at age 11. Both Tycho and Pippin are in amazingly good health. Tootsie, inset, 16˝, mixed breed, was rescued from a back yard in rural Virginia in 1992, where she lived on a two-foot chain and with no shelter. Tootsie is currently under the care of cardiologist Dr. Luis Braz-Ruivo of Bowie Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral for heart disease.

“7 reasons I give to the ACVIM Foundation”
This pet owner and Leadership Club donor says the best reasons of all are seven extraordinary and loving dogs who found their way into her heart and home.
Thanks to Herman, a miniature schnauzer stricken with brain cancer, Pat discovered the entire world of veterinary specialty medicine in 1988. By the time Pat found ACVIM neurologist Dr. Steven Steinberg at VCA Veterinary Hospital in Gaithersburg, Maryland, it was too late for her beloved dog. But other specialists in the greater Washington, DC, area would help three other dogs to live longer and more comfortable lives.
Another important reason Pat gives to the ACVIM Foundation is the wonderful interaction she’s had with ACVIM specialists:
“I can’t say enough about the skill, dedication, and compassion of Dr. Lisa Fulton, Dr. Kathy Arrington, and Dr. Luis Braz-Ruivo. I am so grateful for the wonderful and kind care they gave my dogs. They really do care about their patients.”
Join Pat Crusenberry and the other supporters in the Leadership Club with a contribution of $1,000 or more to the ACVIM Foundation. Every dollar you give supports clinical investigations and programs of education, advocacy, and service that are leading to our ultimate goal: healthier and longer lives for animals.
