In Memory of Gypsy April 15, 1996 – December 4, 2009

Gypsy, you came into my life in July of 1996. You had such a beautiful face and a wonderful puppy smell. You were my first dog ever and I had no clue how to care for you. Over the years you taught me well. I never thought that I could love you so much.

You were so very strong, stronger than most people I know. You overcame cancer and all the treatments that come with it. You never missed a beat after your amputation. They gave you 12 months to be with me, but you made it 32. What an amazing spirit you had.

Over the past 13 ½ years that you were part of my life, I learned so many things from you. You taught me that trusting in the people you love is never a bad thing, a big wet kiss can always make you smile, and sometimes all you need is for someone to scratch behind your ears.

Jack and I miss you so much baby girl and I know that someday we will see you again.

We Have a Secret

We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
for who but I can see you lie
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your small form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every brook I pass
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass.
